JAY SWING #29 "The Champ Is Here" b/w "Rockin' On The Radio"

Tape #30 (2004). This was the last in the numbered series of mixtapes. Mostly because around this time it became hard to fill a whole tape with music that moved me. The plan going forward was to make tapes that were timeless and never got dated once the songs got old. With that said, this tape is one one of my favourites but mostly because of disc 2. Disc 1 is a straight mixtape. Frank N Dank hosted and rocked the intro over MC Breed's "Ain't No Future In Your Frontin'" (understand the Detroit connection?). There are a bunch of records that stand the test of time on this one. Kanye "Jesus Walks", Mos Def "The Edge", and Mobb Deep "Got It Twisted" are at the top of that list. Disc 2 is classic from start to finish. Moka Only rocks the intro and the tape is made up from mixes that I did on Straight Goods and recorded live off the radio - the vest of BDP, Eric B & Rakim, Gangstarr, and the Jungle Brothers. The last track on disc 2 is Bishop's "25 Beats" freestyle when dude went in for over 15 minutes off the top of his head. Easily the craziest freestyle in over 15 years of rockin' on the radio!
