Tape #30 (2004). This was the last in the numbered series of mixtapes. Mostly because around this time it became hard to fill a whole tape with music that moved me. The plan going forward was to make tapes that were timeless and never got dated once the songs got old. With that said, this tape is one one of my favourites but mostly because of disc 2. Disc 1 is a straight mixtape. Frank N Dank hosted and rocked the intro over MC Breed's "Ain't No Future In Your Frontin'" (understand the Detroit connection?). There are a bunch of records that stand the test of time on this one. Kanye "Jesus Walks", Mos Def "The Edge", and Mobb Deep "Got It Twisted" are at the top of that list. Disc 2 is classic from start to finish. Moka Only rocks the intro and the tape is made up from mixes that I did on Straight Goods and recorded live off the radio - the vest of BDP, Eric B & Rakim, Gangstarr, and the Jungle Brothers. The last track on disc 2 is Bishop's "25 Beats" freestyle when dude went in for over 15 minutes off the top of his head. Easily the craziest freestyle in over 15 years of rockin' on the radio!

JAY SWING "The Jump Off"
Tape #28 (2003). Went back to Jordan for the cover. Concise blesses the intro. The Roots "The Seed" is my cut on this tape. Most everything else is dope too, although not sure I want to hear "Magic Stick" ever again.

thoseMFs "Dynamite!" (An Evening At The Club Vol. 3)
This tape is An Evening At The Club Vol. 3, although it really should have been called An Evening At The Dancehall. Dynamite! was a night that we did at Tokyo Lounge in 2004 that only lasted a couple months and nobody really came. You win some and you lose some I suppose. The best thing about this night by far was that we made this mixtape. Like the cover says, this tape is Reggae intensive - all classics with a splash of Hip-Hop at the end.

thoseMFs (Flip & Jay) "An Evening At The Club Vol. 2"
Another glimpse into what we were rocking at the club in 2003. This one was done for a night we did for The Beat 94.5fm at a club Voda and it has Flip rocking the mic to give it that live from the club feeling. Musically it's more of the same - club Rap and Dancehall plus some classic R&B too.

thoseMFs (Flip & Jay) "An Evening At The Club Vol. 1"
These mix tapes are exactly what they say they are - An Evening At The Club. Flipout and myself took our backpacks off, our gold fronts out, pulled our pants up, and put our dancing shoes on and linked some mix tapes for the club heads. We did these for a couple of club nights we were doing at the time. This one was for Bent Tuesdays at The Wild Coyote which was a pretty crazy, and when I say crazy I really mean fucking insane. This mix is filled with club rap and dancehall - all the big records from the dance floor in 2004.

JAY SWING #27 "So Fresh & So Clean"
Tape #27 (2001). This is the first mixtape that wasn't on tape. I guess this is actually a mixcd but that name sounds wack so we'll keep calling these mixtapes. Checkmate rocks over PRT's "Rock This Funky JointIt also means no more side a & b. Musically, Dilla's "Fuck The Police" and Hov's "Takeover" are the two gems here. Mobb Deep's "Burn" is a close second.

thoseMFs "Formula Vol. 3"
Volume 3 (2002). This tape has a little bit of Hip-Hop and a ton of Dancehall. It also has the best intro ever created courtesy of Flipout!

thoseMFs "Formula Vol. 2"
The year is 2001 - Volume 2 of the Formula tapes. This one is a combo of new Hip-Hop and R&B (well, new at the time), classic Hip-Hop and Funk/Disco. The music on this tape is pretty much a 100% exact reflection of what we played at the night.
